Deepawali Greetings
Festivals are to life as rasins are to bread. Festivals usher in a welcome kink in the humdrum daily life. This is of course a very common interpretation of festivals.
Obviously, the sages of the pristine past must not have been circumscribed by only this common interpretation of festivals.
They have had a sociological perspective, economic perspective as well as a spiritual perspective, when they visualized and instituted festivals.
Sociologically speaking, festivals are to bring about greater cohesion amidst the people. The primary purpose of the festivals is to facilitate ironing out individual differences and to tauten the social bond. For example, holi facilitates even people fuming with individual differences come together. In fact, this is the paramount purpose for the exchange of greetings, on the occasion of festivals. There are a number of instances in our history and literature to exemplify the same.
As to the economic perspective, it is needless to mention that the economic activity and thereby the general well being of the society, is dependent on, the velocity of circulation of money. In the past, agriculture and agriculture based commerce and industry, constituted the major economic activity, leading to concentration of finance with just a few individuals, for feudalism was the order of the day. To ensure the velocity of circulation of money, it was necessary to condition the few feudal lords to spend money. One best way of doing it, was to institute festivals.
On the occasion of the festivals, the greater the feudal lord, the greater would be the expenditure incurred, which would facilitate the velocity of circulation.
When human beings get humane, they get spiritual. The pristine sages of the past were resourceful enough to understand that cohesion amidst humanity can be achieved by instituting festivals. Festivals usher in greetings, which mean festivals condition one to spread happiness around one. The spiritual implication of spreading happiness around one cannot be overemphasized.
The students of Prince Ashokraje Gaekwad School take to observing Deepawali keeping in mind the twin objectives of avoidance of pollution of nature and spreading peace and amity. For this sake they take to bursting crackers electronically. They invite students and other people of different communities to the school campus, share with them their happiness and distribute to them Sweets and other condiments specially prepared on the occasion of Deepawali.
I convey my greetings to all the students, their parents and the staff of the school, on the eve of Deepawali. On this happy occasion, I very fervently wish and pray that peace and prosperity prevail amidst us.

Let Us Learn To Protect Our Independence.
Freedom is the surest possession of only those who know how to protect it. Protecting one’s freedom entails the dichotomy of jealously guarding one’s rights, which are the obverse of others responsibilities and also zealously taking to one’s responsibilities, which are the very obverse of the rights of others.
A circuit of electricity has but two poles and one’s freedom has but two aspects, one’s rights and one’s responsibilities. In fact, from every right springs up the corresponding responsibility. Only when one is prepared to discharge one’s responsibilities, can one claim one’s rights. Only those who are fully aware of this and are prepared to take to both one’s rights and responsibilities with equal zeal and zest, are capable of guarding their freedom against any infringement.
As far as India today is concerned, the desideratum is peace and tranquility which are the drive for progress and sustainable growth. India has everything and if we know well how to protect our freedom, we will be propelled in the direction of progress and sustainable growth. Let us learn to protect our freedom, only to get all the desirable fruits of being independent.
I convey my greetings to all the staff, the students and their parents, on the eve of the sixty seventh Independence Day of our great country.

The Pristine Indian Tradition accords tertiary importance to the guru, as far as cataloguing the entities essential for human life, is concerned. We have a number of traditional instances and anecdotes exemplifying this.
The Sanskrit word ‘GURU’ connotes, a person, who leads others from darkness to light. It goes without saying that in the contemporary times, only those who strive to approximate to this indispensable calling, can deserve the homage accorded to the guru.
Of course, we do have some teachers who ask for the homage accorded to the guru, even today. It should be the endeavour of all teachers today, to strive to live up to the essential, the ennobling, yet the enjoyable calling of being gurus.
I reassure all the parents of the students of Prince Ashokraje Gaekwad School that we will endeavour to be gurus, to get the youngsters, entrusted to our care, introduced to themselves. I eagerly look forward to meeting you all on the occasion of the Guru Purnima celebration, on Friday,19.7.2013 on the Pre-Primary campus and on Saturday,20.7.2013, on the Primary campus.
